Black palm primarily gives the finished product a unique and entertaining pattern that is unlike other popular woods. In addition to knife handles, it is also used in pen turning and stock plates for pistols, but it is probably only your imagination and the size of the subject that sets the limit to what you can use it for.
In addition, it has a relatively high density, and can therefore contribute to a good balance between blade and shaft.
