Description:

The Green Wood spoon carving set from BeaverCraft is for those who want to experience the entire journey – from fresh log to finished wooden spoon. Instead of starting with a pre-cut blank, you split and shape the spoon from raw, green wood, just as traditional green woodworking has been done for generations. Here you get to experience the entire craft, from the first axe swing to the final finish on the spoon bowl.

The set is just as suitable for the beginner who wants to learn the process from the ground up as it is for the experienced woodcarver who appreciates authentic green woodworking. It is easy to take with you and works well at the cabin, in the woods, or around the campfire – a natural choice for bushcraft and outdoor enthusiasts. With sharp, handmade tools and a clear guide, you can get started quickly, and the set also makes a great gift for someone who wants to try something new.

BeaverCraft's philosophy is simple: quality, simplicity, and joy in the process itself. The tools arrive factory-sharpened, so you can start carving right away.

Included in the set

  • Axe – for splitting and rough shaping of the blank from the log
  • Knife – sharp and reliable sloyd knife for shaping and detail work
  • Spoon knife (hook knife) – for hollowing out the spoon bowl
  • Leather strop – keeps the edge sharp during use
  • Carving guide – step by step from log to spoon
  • Video tutorial on spoon carving

From log to spoon

  1. Split the log and chop into a rough blank with the axe.
  2. Shape the spoon's outer contour and handle with the knife.
  3. Hollow out the spoon bowl with the spoon knife.
  4. Sand and smooth the surface – and your very own wooden spoon is finished.

Note: Green (fresh) wood is soft and easy to carve. Use a fresh log from a suitable wood species, such as birch, alder, or maple.
