How to make silicone molds? Use of casting silicone

1. Measure the amount of silicone according to the information found on the packaging or on our product pages.
2. Mix in a mixing bowl of a suitable size, mix well (3-4 minutes) and scrape the sides and bottom several times to get everything mixed in.
3. Transfer to a new mixing cup to prevent unmixed silicone, and mix for a few more minutes in the new cup.
4. If you don't have a vacuum chamber or other degassing equipment, you can use a straw to blow on the silicone to help the bubbles come to the surface to burst.
5. Pour in a high jet so that it becomes thin, and pour at the lowest point in the mold and let the silicone spread itself. See video example below.
6. Let the bubbles rise to the surface on their own and let them burst. Sometimes vibrating or gently shaking the mold can help get bubbles out, but should not be necessary if you are using a silicone with a good viscosity like CS25 .
7. Allow the silicone to cure for the specified time
8. Voila! You can now clean the edges of the mold and the like and take out the originals you have cast.
